  • AUTOR
Daphne Geerse studied Human Movement Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. Her PhD project, under the supervision of prof. dr. J.J. van Hilten and dr. J. Marinus (department of Neurology, Leiden University Medical Center [LUMC]) and dr. M. Roerdink (department of Human Movement Sciences, VU Amsterdam), was part of the NWO-funded research program Technology in Motion; a collaboration between the LUMC, VU Amsterdam and Delft University of Technology. The goal of this program was to develop low-cost, unobtrusive and objective assessments of motor performance in stroke and Parkinson’s disease patients. Daphne focused on the Interactive Walkway as a novel assessment tool for walking and walking adaptability. She is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher on Project HoloCue, a continued collaboration between the VU Amsterdam and LUMC funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation, to examine the potential of the HoloLens for alleviating freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease patients.
